Q: What does a typical day look like at Nymboida Yogaretreat?

A: There will likely be only a few guests here or you may be lucky enough to be just here on your own. The yoga teacher owner, Dhyan also lives in the retreat house usually with just one or two volunteers and you share his life and theology. Have a chance to learn directly from him in an intimate family like environment.Your day will start with a sunrise yoga session to awaken your body and mind, followed by a nourishing vegan breakfast using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Mid-morning is typically reserved for guided meditation walk where you can deepen your practice and find inner peace and to take that practice in helping out with ashram tasks where you will learn about nature and holistic gardening. After a wholesome vegan lunch, the afternoon offers free time to explore by bushwalks the pristine surroundings, relax, or participate in optional workshops, massage, holistic healing sessions and activities that align with our holistic wellness philosophy. As the day winds down, we come together for an evening meditation or theology class, focusing on a few gentle restorative poses to help you unwind. In the evening there will some fruit or juices, so as not to disturb your sleep -- so concluding the day with a sense of community and well-being.

Q: How can I volunteer at Nymboida Yogaretreat and what does it involve?

A:  To apply as a volunteer click on the top menu VOLUNTEER.  As a volunteer, you'll assist with various tasks such as meal preparation, gardening, cleaning, and yoga retreats for 6 hours a day. In return, you’ll receive accommodation, meals, and learn yoga and meditation - you must participate in this. We seek enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about health and wellness and willing to commit to a minimum stay of four weeks. It is a remote location so you need to be ok being on your own, there may be another volunteer here. The retreat is small and secluded only catering to about 1-4 guests. You may just be here alone with Dhyan, the owner so its important that we get along. So you need to do a video interview beforehand and fill in a detailed health form.Volunteering here is not only a chance to give back but experiencing the serene wilderness of northern NSW where you can enjoy the wildlife, bushwalks and kayaking - you get one day off a week to explore the local area. And will learn about yoga.It's important that you are alcohol, drug, tobacco free and at least looking into a vegan lifestyle and have tried meditation and yoga.

A: To join the Nymboida Yogaretreat community, you can start by going to menu above JOIN THE COMMUNITY and filling in the form provided on the 'Join Us' page.  Once submitted, Dhyan will review your application and reach out to schedule a video interview to discuss your fit and you will need to submit a detailed health form. You will then volunteer here for a month at no cost. Then if approved, be invited to become a probationary resident for 12 months. If all goes well you will become a full resident and can live here.We are looking for new members who are passionate about holistic health, committed to the practice of yoga, and enthusiastic about veganism. Ideal candidates are open-minded, eager to learn, and ready to contribute positively to our secluded health retreat. Whether you are a seasoned yogi or just starting your wellness journey, we welcome individuals who share our values of mindfulness, sustainability, and community.

What happens on the silent personal meditation retreat?

Accepted Answer

This retreat is very flexible, you can choose your date and length of stay. It is by donation. Every day there is early morning yoga, breakfast, then a little bit of helping out at the retreat. Then you have some time for your own practice and quiet bushwalk. Lunch is vegan. In the afternoon you can have private sessions or free time. And help out here if you wish. Evening is juice or light fruit, followed by meditation and a philosophy talk. Then you have time to read or write your diary.If you want to do rawfoods, juices or fast then let Dhyan know. If you want to focus in certain issues let Dhyan know. Most of the retreat you will be in silence.
